Project 1867 - The Sandhills of Nebraska
The Sandhills of Nebraska are a unique and ecologically important region located in the north-central part of the state. Covering about 19,000 square miles (49,000 km²)—nearly a quarter of Nebraska—they form the largest stabilized sand dune system in the Western Hemisphere and one of the most intact temperate grassland ecosystems in the world.
